Sir Onyeka Ehiwuogwu is a Partner and heads the Asaba branch office. He is a seasoned advocate and currently serves as the Assistant Head of the Litigation Practice Group. Onyeka has demonstrated exceptional expertise in handling complex legal disputes, securing landmark judgments in various areas of ranging from contract, Tax law, to land and real estate cases valued in the billions of Naira. Notably, he has successfully litigated tax disputes for a foremost financial Institution in Nigeria cumulatively worth over ₦5 billion, alongside other significant tax rulings and has prior been recognised among recommended lawyers by the Legal 500.
Onyeka earned his LL.B from the University of Benin in 2010, where he was the Head of the Justice Chukwunweike Idigbe Chambers. He graduated with Second Class Upper Honours from the Nigerian Law School and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2012. He holds an LLM from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Taxation.
An accomplished legal scholar, Onyeka has authored several notable publications, including his acclaimed article, “Transnational Arbitral Awards - The Clamour for a Centralised Appellate Review Body.”
He is a distinguished member of the Nigerian Bar Association, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, United Kingdom, the International Chamber of Arbitrators, an associate of the Nigerian Institute of Management, and the Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria (BRIPAN).
Onyeka is also a dedicated Knight of the Catholic Church, among other professional and social affiliations.
