Decency Nkume is an astute legal professional with expertise in intellectual property, tax, corporate law, data privacy, and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and the wide spectrum of Web3. He obtained his LL.B. (Hons) from Abia State University in 2019, graduating with a Second Class Upper, and his B.L. from the Nigerian Law School in 2021, also with a Second Class Upper, where he ranked in the top 5% of his cohort. He is a recipient of the 2023 Binance Charity African Tech Scholarship Programme for Tech Scholars in Africa and holds certifications from the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management Blockchain Center.
Decency also serves as the Team Lead for the Tax Law Practice Group. He is an active member of the Nigerian Bar Association, a Fellow of the Environmental Carbon Offset Alliance (ECOTA), and serves as a non-executive member of Young People in Tech (YPIT), a global community of young professionals in Nigeria’s tech ecosystem.
Decency is an active contributor to legal scholarship and has co-authored a chapter in The AI Revolution: The International Legal Perspective (2024), published by the International Association of Entertainment Lawyers. He has also written several articles on IP, regulatory frameworks and tax law, published in the Tax Law Journal Nigeria.
